It is our community development program whose mission is to collectively address social issues. It implements the Strategic Prevention Model in the municipality of Vega Baja together with a Community Coalition to reduce alcohol consumption in minors.
This program uses a harm reduction approach for injecting drug users in the San Juan area. Punto Fijo exchanges clean needles for used ones to reduce HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis transmission and also helps participants access care and treatment services.
Other services include HIV/AIDS education, referrals for HIV testing, counseling and short orientations on topics such as drug use and abuse, a focal point of transmission, hygiene and safe injection practices. As part of its prevention equipment, Punto Fijo possesses the first needle-dispending vending machine used in America.
A community-based prevention and education program for youths who are exposed to high-risk environments.
